Board Highlight: Emily Abbott
Emily Abbott serves as President of the Who Is Carter Board of Directors, a role she finds very gratifying—both because it honors the legacy of her son, Carter, and because it allows her to interact with kids who face health needs similar to those Carter encountered. “It’s the most amazing thing to see how much our work means to these families and to the quality of life of these kids,” she says. In addition, Emily finds it gratifying to spend her days researching natural and holistic healing, lifestyle practices, and children’s health and wellness. Emily loves being in a position to serve families affected by neurological conditions by providing education and bringing together a community that faces a common set of challenges—and seeks hope together in the midst of those challenges. “Our desire is to honor and empower families to live their best life possible, full of joy, hope, and wellness,” Emily declares.
In recent months, Emily resigned from her full-time position at Abbott Properties to work full-time as the Executive Director for both the Who Is Carter Foundation and The Brain Possible, though she still takes on occasional design projects, such as The Bardot, an event space in Kansas City opening in Spring of 2020. Emily is also currently designing her family’s new home in Austin, Texas, and raising her four beautiful children with her husband, Matt.
