Board Highlight: Matt Abbott

Matt Abbott is Co-Founder of the Who Is Carter Foundation, Treasurer of the Board of Directors, and most importantly: Carter’s dad.

Matt is also very active in the Foundation’s Annual Gala, serving as this year’s program Emcee and working passionately to invite guests and establish corporate Sponsorships for the event.

Matt’s role with the Foundation is, in his words, a journey:

“I don't do this because I'm a good person. I just am following a journey and path that God sent me on, and I am doing my part to fulfill upon that journey and that promise that Emily and I made together to honor Carter’s legacy by serving families who face similar challenges.

I used to be uncomfortable with kids and people with brain injuries and or special abilities. Now, I realize that they are no different from me, they are perfect just the way they are, and I see them this way, which allows them to live a life of abundance and possibility—for anything to be possible for them.

So, now you know, it's really that simple.

I discovered a new life through Carter, and God.

And I simply am honoring my word on a promise I made to Emily, Carter, God and myself.”
